There are many reasons why FemiliPNG Australia visit the Femili PNG team in Port Moresby, Lae and/or Goroka. These include:
- Providing technical support
- Relationship building
- Story collection
- Visiting a project
- Accountability – as an international NGO that receives Australian Government funding, there are strict criteria that must be adhered to in governance and risk management, development approaches and management, approaches to partnership, communications and engagement, and financial management. Additionally, we’re accountable to all of our supporters and donor community.

What do we do when we visit Femili PNG?
A few FemiliPNG Australia staff members travelled to Papua New Guinea in November 2025. Please see their reflections below:
Jocelyn – Executive Director
Jocelyn started at FemiliPNG Australia in October 2025. In November, Jocelyn traveled to Papua New Guinea where she met the Femili PNG teams in Lae and Port Moresby. Jocelyn met with CEO Daisy and the Executive Management Committee to discuss the partnership between the two organisations. Jocelyn also spoke with staff to understand their perception of the FemiliPNG Australia. This information will be used to guide the future direction of the partnership.
“Meeting the staff of Femili PNG has been an absolute highlight of my first few months. Nothing beats the chance to meet in person, an unrivalled way to understand and really engage with both the complexity and the impact of Femili PNG’s work. The warmth with which all the Femili PNG staff greeted me, and the patience with which they explained their work made me so grateful to have had this opportunity so early in my time with FemiliPNG Australia. I’m excited to continue working closely with Femili PNG’s CEO Daisy and the whole Executive Management Committee and already looking forward to my next visit!” – Jocelyn

” As the Financial Advisor I travel to PNG to support the FPNG team with Financial compliance. This helps both FPNG and myself to stay across processes, compliance and challenges. I love working in person with the team.” – Fiona

Hannah – Fundraising and Communications Officer
Hannah joined FemiliPNG Australia in February 2025. Hannah visited the Femili PNG Goroka Case Management Centre in November to observe daily operations and impact so she can accurately represent their work to an Australian audience. During her visit, Hannah met with the Femili PNG team, other local service providers, visited the Goroka bilum market and was able to observe what life in Goroka is like.
“This trip has deepened both my understanding of and engagement withย Femiliย PNGโs work in Goroka, providing richer stories and a more personal connection to the people behind our programs. These insights will help build stronger bridges between our supporters in Australia and the communities we serve in PNG, informing ongoing communications and fundraising strategies. By sharing authentic, human-centred narratives, we can foster deeper empathy,ย demonstrateย the tangible impact of donor support, and continue to strengthen the relationship between our audience andย Femiliย PNGโs mission.” – Hannahย

Kate – Program Lead
Kate travels to visit the Goroka Case Management Centre. FemiliPNG Australia supports the Goroka Case Management Centre with funding from the Australian Government via the Australian NGO Cooperation Program. Kate visits to ensure that the project is on track and compliant with the related funding criteria criteria. In November, Kate’s visit to Goroka also included Hannah, and Kate introduced Hannah to the team.
“At FemiliPNG Australia, our work requires strong accountability to our funders, particularly the Australian Government for the Goroka Case Management Centre. As the Program Lead, my visits are important to meet these accountability needs. During my visits I provide oversight, support and quality assurance on the on the project. There are many areas I consider including new and emerging risks, disability inclusion, and compliance. I greatly value these visits, I get to meet with other local service providers and learn from with the Femili PNG team who are experts in their field.” – Kate
