Canberra Times Marathon 2026 Update

What a weekend! It was a privilege to be out in the sunshine cheering on our runners in Canberra Times Marathon Festival. An astonishing 36 runners came out to support the #RunforFemiliPNG team. For those that I had the pleasure of chatting to, it was great to hear of your enthusiasm for the work of Femili PNG and FemiliPNG Australia, and we were humbled by the huge show of support we received.

This year’s marathon festival was a record number of runners, and a record-breaking fundraising amount, with over $50,000 raised for the work of Femili PNG. Like I shared with those who were able to join us at morning tea, this is such important funding, and every dollar makes a difference for someone who walks through the doors of a Femili Case Management Centre at one of the hardest points in their lives. Your belief in our mission makes it possible.

It was also a special weekend at the PNG High Commission. We were delighted to be joined for morning tea by PNG High Commissioner HE John Kali, the patron of Femili PNG and a former Board Director of FemiliPNG Australia. We were pleased to also be able to take this moment to celebrate the work of the High Commissioner and his support for our organisation. Morning tea was again a display of the way the PNG community comes together, and we were so grateful to Colonel Diro and the PNG Defence Forces both for their support to run, and the great morning tea they put together with the help of our volunteer and long-time supporter Clare Holberton. ย

We look forward to coming together to do it all again in 2027!

Jocelyn
