Santos Supports FemiliPNG Australia with a Christmas Giving Campaign

This Christmas, FemiliPNG Australia is grateful for the support of Santos in launching a special giving campaign to help us support services for survivors of family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea. This initiative allows Santos employees and stakeholders to make a meaningful difference during the festive season, contributing to FemiliPNG Australia’s mission.

Shining a Light on Family and Sexual Violence

In Papua New Guinea, up to 68% of women experience family and sexual violence at some point in their lives. The barriers to seeking help are immense, with fewer than 35% of survivors able to access the services they need. Femili PNG was established to address these challenges, helping survivors navigate complex care and justice systems, and access critical resources such as safe housing, medical care, and legal support.

Over the past decade, Femili PNG has assisted more than 7,000 survivors through its case management centres in Lae and Goroka, as well as the Bel isi PNG case management centre and safe house in Port Moresby. These services are free, ensuring that all survivors can receive the help they need, regardless of their circumstances.

FemiliPNG Australia provides vital funding and technical support that helps to ensure these life-saving services remain available to survivors across PNG.

Santos’ Commitment to Giving Back

Through this Christmas giving campaign, Santos employees are coming together to make a difference. By donating to FemiliPNG Australia, they are helping us to support vital programs that:

  • Assist survivors of family and sexual violence in accessing safe accommodation.
  • Link survivors to law and justice interventions.
  • Support survivors with repatriations, relocations, and reintegrations.
  • Provide survivors with business start-up kits.
  • Train community leaders and service providers to assist survivors.
  • Deliver awareness sessions to adults and children across Papua New Guinea.

We are deeply grateful to Santos and its employees for supporting FemiliPNG Australia this Christmas. Their contributions provide critical funding that enables us to support Femili PNG in striving for a Papua New Guinea where everyone can live free from violence.

About Bel isi PNG and Santos

Santos also contributes to broader efforts addressing family and sexual violence through the Santos Foundation’s involvement in the Bel isi PNG initiative.

Bel isi PNG is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to address family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea by uniting the private, public, and government sectors. At its core are Femili PNG, which operates the Bel isi PNG case management centre and safe house in Port Moresby, and the Santos Foundation, the program’s managing partner.

What makes Bel isi PNG unique is its collaborative approach. Businesses subscribe to the initiative and contribute regular funding, ensuring critical services for survivors—such as safe housing and case management—can continue. In return, businesses receive education and resources to foster workplace environments that support those affected by violence.

Employees of subscribing companies can access support from the Bel isi PNG case management centre and safe house anonymously through their workplace. Survivors who are not employees of subscribing businesses can still access support through Femili PNG in Port Moresby. This inclusive model ensures that help is available to anyone who needs it.

This innovative approach provides multiple pathways for survivors to seek help while empowering businesses to address gender-based violence actively. By working together, Bel isi PNG drives meaningful change, creating safer workplaces and stronger communities across Papua New Guinea.

Thank You, Santos

We sincerely thank Santos and its employees for their generosity this Christmas, helping us provide essential support to Femili PNG as they work to create safer communities in Papua New Guinea.
